The Whakatane area provides many opportunities for a keen hunter. You can choose to hunt for deer, pig, goat, wallaby, possum, hare, rabbit, peafowl, turkey and goose. In the gamebird season we hunt for duck, swan, pukeko, pheasant, Canadian goose and quail. Licences are required for the gamebird season.
We have access to many farms with large stands of native bush for hunting and also to hunting in the bush areas of the National Parks. You can choose to hunt during the day, go spotlighting at night, or a little of both. And best of all, you can choose how long you want to go for; a few hours or a few days... it is all up to you.
Our hunting provides a valuable environmental service; we hunt for pests. We waste nothing by consuming the meat we hunt for and by selling products such as feathers and skins. For us, our hunting is a lifestyle which we are happy to share with others.
Our fee for night time pest spotlighting is $50 per hour, including travel time. For all other hunting our fee is $500 per day (24 hours), including transfers and food. We are happy for you to take the animal you have hunted for, or we will dispose of it for you; we can also cook your kill for you as part of our service. For an extra fee we can organise for your kill be to butchered and packed.
Note: Hunting is limited to one or two people at a time, depending on the target species. Hunting equipment can be provided.

Our most popular adventure is a canoe based hunting and or fishing expedition through a National Park in a guided Canadian canoe. This very challenging trip requires a high level of fitness, especially for hunting. Our experienced guide will guide you to the best places for your target species of pig, deer or trout. Accommodation is provided in huts found along the way, or by fly camp, and all food is provided for the trip.
This trip is strictly for one person per guide; we have several canoe guides so we can accommodate 1-3 people wishing to take the trip together. This adventure runs for 3 - 4 nights and costs $5000.00 per person, including food, hut fees and transfers. Hunting and fishing equipment can be provided.
